Khao Sok National Park is in the Southern part of Thailand and is such an amazing place of natural beauty, you won’t want to leave. Khao Sok National Park Must Do
If you do make it to Koh Sok then you must come and see one of the highlights of the place. One of the most interesting areas is the stunning and beautiful Cheow Larn Lake, which is in the heart of the National Park surrounding the lake are luxury tents and there is also raft houses to stay in.
One of the most popular activities is trekking on foot through the rain forest. It is very wise to go along with an experienced local guide. The National Park and the surrounding parks offer many different trekking routes for people of all ages and abilities, we have something for everyone.
The Treks start from various places throughout the national park and run all along the length of the all the parks, including but not restricted to, the National Park Headquarters. Also it is possible to take a ride on Sok River, which is a perfect place for gentle canoe ride down the slowly meandering river, it is so beautiful.
If you don’t feel like using your arms yourself, then you can get a local guide to do the hard work for you which is ideal for those taking lots of pictures or who just want to watch the beautiful scenery go by. The guides are very experienced and nowhere to look for certain animals and are usually experts in spotting wildlife along the river.
Some of the animals you will most likely encounter will be Kingfishers and Herons hunting in the water edges, you will also, if lucky enough, see snakes and tree frogs there is an abundance of monitor lizards and if you are really lucky, maybe even some monkeys. Other than the fascinating wild animals you will encounter, you will see sheer lime stone cliffs, all covered with dense green lush jungle. You will witness local people, who use the river for fishing, to do their laundry; they also fill up their water jugs to take back to their village all from the river.
As previously mentioned, one of the most beautiful parts of Khao Sok National Park is Cheow Larn Lake. It has amazing limestone mountains, which rise hundreds of meters above the emerald waters of this beautiful lake.
If you are coming here to Thailand, then a visit to Khao Sok is a must really and if you have the time, we recommend visiting the lake. It is possible to come for just for one day and marvel at its beauty or you can stay overnight in one of the floating bungalows which lie in the heart of the Park.
You can check out the caverns and caves, or trek in the national park looking for wild birds and other animals in the early morning or even late in the evening – the sunsets here are quite spectacular. And in the morning when you wake to the sounds of the rain forest and all its creatures, you will, if only for a short time, feel one with nature.
